Have You Received Your HST Transition Support Payment for Small Businesses?
The HST Blog asks you to comment on whether you have received your HST Small Business Transition Support cheque. The Ontario government has advertised in HST Tax Tip #7 that small and medium sized businesses (sales less than $2 Million in the tax year 2009) that they will be receiving an HST transition support payment up to $1000 in "the fall of 2010". Well, the leaves are colourful and it is officially fall of 2010 - where are those government cheques?

Just wanted to let you know that I received my cheque yesterday (November 3) for $884.17 - but I have a question. I am a sole-proprietor, so the cheque was made out to me personally... but should this money not be deposited into my business account? And, is this cheque considered a refund, or revenue, or what? Basically, how should I account for it in my books?
I've had one client who received a cheque. The cheque was dated October 28, 2010. Perhaps the flood gates are starting to open.
Have not received any cheque yet for my small business although it meets all the above criteria. Any update on this? Are the cheques being sent out now?

Beginning in the fall of 2010, Ontario will automatically calculate the SBTSP amounts and send cheques to eligible businesses once taxable revenue information for a 12-month period ending on or after January 1, 2009 has been provided to the CRA. The small business transition support payment is taxable for income tax purposes. If you have questions regarding taxable business income, please contact the CRA.
